How to use the viewer
- Open a file. Click Open a stitch file or drop a DST, PES, PEC, EXP or JEF file onto the preview. You can also load one of the samples.
- Check the details. The panel shows the finished size in millimeters and inches, stitch count, colors, trims, jumps, estimated run time and thread use.
- Watch the stitch-out. Press Play stitch-out to see the order the machine will sew. This is the quickest way to spot bad sequencing, such as a design that jumps back and forth.
- Preview on your fabric. Switch the fabric color to see how the thread colors will look on black, navy, khaki or white caps.
- Convert. Save the design as DST, PES or EXP, or download a PNG preview to send to a customer.
What to look for
- Too many trims and jumps slow production. Compare the trim count with the number of separate shapes in the design.
- Stitches longer than 12.1 mm are split or skipped by many machines. The viewer warns you about them.
- Very short stitches under 0.3 mm can cause thread breaks and bird nests.
- Size. Check the width and height against your hoop and placement. Our hat placement size guide lists the usual limits.
About converting
Converting changes the file format, not the stitches. A file built for a polo is still built for a polo after converting. DST and EXP do not store thread colors, so the colors you pick here are used when saving to PES. Resizing more than about 10 to 20% needs a digitizer, because density and underlay must be rebuilt. If a file runs badly, send it to us for a rework.
