AI Embroidery & Patch Design Generator
Turn an idea, or a rough sketch, into a realistic design in about a minute: embroidery, 3D puff, chenille, woven or PVC, for hats, shirts, jackets, bags or a stand-alone patch. Pick the shape and size, see it to scale, and when you like it our team makes it real.

AI previews are concepts, watermarked and not stitch files. Every order is digitized by hand by our team. Please don't enter brand names or logos you don't own.
How the AI design generator works
- 01
Describe it or upload it
Type your idea in a sentence, add the exact lettering, or upload a rough sketch or an old logo.
- 02
Pick style, placement, shape and size
Embroidery, 3D puff, chenille, woven or PVC. Hat, beanie, chest, sleeve, jacket back or a stand-alone patch. A shape like circle, shield or rectangle, and the size in inches.
- 03
See it to scale
In about a minute you get a realistic preview on fabric, labelled with its size. Not quite right? Change a detail and make another.
- 04
Send it to our team
Press Get this digitized. We quote it, then a real digitizer turns it into a clean DST, PES or EMB file (or a production-ready patch file), usually within 24 hours.
Embroidery, 3D puff, chenille, woven or PVC
- Embroidery
- Satin stitches for lettering and outlines, tatami fill for large areas. The most popular choice for hats, polos and jackets.
- 3D puff
- Thick satin stitches over foam so letters stand off the cap. Best for bold block or script lettering and simple shapes.
- Chenille
- Looped, towel-like yarn on a felt base with a stitched edge: the classic letterman and varsity patch look.
- Woven
- Very thin threads woven tightly, so small text and fine detail stay sharp. Flat, smooth and lightweight.
- PVC
- Soft molded rubber in solid colors with raised outlines. Waterproof and tough: great for outdoor, tactical and workwear.
From AI picture to a file that stitches clean
An AI image only shows what it could look like. For embroidery, your machine needs a stitch file, so our digitizers redraw every shape by hand: satin columns sized for the letters, tatami fills with the right density, underlay for the fabric, and pull compensation so nothing gaps on a curved cap crown. Chenille, woven and PVC designs are cleaned up into production-ready artwork the same way.
You get the file in the formats you need, usually within 24 hours, and edits are always free. See digitizing pricing or all services.
AI design generator questions
Is this AI design generator really free?
Yes. Every visitor gets 3 free designs. No sign-up, no card. You only pay if you order the real stitch file or patches, and we quote that before any work starts.
Can I turn an AI image into an embroidery file (DST or PES) myself?
Not directly. The AI makes a picture of what the embroidery could look like. Your machine needs a stitch file, where every stitch's type, direction, density and order is set. That's digitizing. Send us the design with Get this digitized and we'll make the file, usually within 24 hours.
Why not just run the AI image through auto-digitizing software?
You can, but AI art is a hard case for auto-digitizing. It has soft gradients, extra colors and very fine lines, so you usually get thin lines that disappear, wavy or puckered fills, gaps between colors and a stitch count that's far too high. A digitizer redraws it with fewer colors, the right underlay and pull compensation for the fabric, so it stitches clean the first time.
Can I use or sell the AI design on my products?
You can use the designs you make here, but be careful about ownership. In the US, the Copyright Office has said material made entirely by AI generally isn't protected by copyright without enough human creative input, so others could use something similar. If it's a logo you want to protect, have it refined by a person and consider registering a trademark. This isn't legal advice.
Which should I choose: embroidery, 3D puff, chenille, woven or PVC?
Embroidery for most logos on hats, polos and jackets. 3D puff for bold lettering that pops off a cap front. Chenille for big, fuzzy varsity letters. Woven when you need small text or fine detail on a thin, flat patch. PVC when it has to survive water, mud and wear, like outdoor, tactical and workwear.
How small can the text be?
As a rule of thumb: standard embroidery needs capital letters at least about 1/4 inch (6 mm) tall, 3D puff about 1/2 inch, and chenille much bigger. Woven patches can hold text around 1/8 inch. Smaller than that and letters fill in or break up.
How many colors can my design have?
Most embroidery machines run up to 12 to 15 thread colors, but 2 to 6 looks cleaner and costs less. PVC patches are often priced per color, so fewer colors also saves money there.
Will a design made here fit a hat?
Yes, if you pick a hat placement. A structured cap front is usually up to about 4.5 x 2.25 inches, a side about 2.5 x 1.75, and the back about 3 x 1. The size you enter is drawn on the preview so you can see it to scale.
Why are brand names, team logos and cartoon characters blocked?
The AI only makes original artwork, so we don't help copy logos and characters other people own. If you own the rights to a logo, send it with the quote form and we'll digitize it for you.
Can I upload my own logo or sketch?
Yes. Upload a JPG or PNG up to 10 MB, confirm you own it, and the AI turns it into a concept in the style you choose. Your upload is stored privately, used only for your design and quote, and deleted after 180 days if you don't order.
Is the size guide exact?
It's a close guide, not a production proof. The AI draws the design at the proportions you chose, and the label shows the size you entered. The final file is digitized at the exact size you confirm in the quote.
